“Positive Choices” Encouraged at Hamden Elks Youth Banquet

Hamden Lodge 2224 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks recently honored Hoop and Soccer Shoot winners, Americanism Essay, Drug Awareness Poster and Essay contest winners, and recipients of their Annual Lodge Scholarship in honor of Edward J. Connolly. Elks Drug Awareness Program and Hamden’s Positive Choices Campaign to prevent underage drinking and drug use materials were on display and available for parents. Shown are Deborah Stewart, Director of the Youth Development Training and Resource Center at the Consultation Center which acts as technical assistance partner for Hamden’s Positive Choices Campaign, part of a statewide initiative, funded by The Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse (DHMAS); Lodge Drug Awareness Chair Brenda Davis representing the Hamden Elks on Hamden Youth Advisory Council (HYAC) and active participant of its Positive Choices Committee; and Exalted Ruler Brian Forsyth, PER. Hamden Elk involvement in this local campaign is quite fitting as both the Committee and Elks Youth Programs encourage our youth to make “Positive Choices.”
